Welcome to The Curious Corner of Chamarel, Mauritius! You’re here because you’re curious. Of course you are, that’s one of mankind’s distinctive characteristics. From the first dawn, man has wondered, and driven by curiosity, created and shaped his environment, but what is real and what is just an illusion?
Curious Corner is all about exploring that grey area of life, where things are not what they seem, and having fun in the process!
Come and join us in Chamarel, located opposite the Seven Coloured Earths, Curious Corner of Chamarel is the first of its kind in Mauritius, a gallery of interactive illusions and art sure to awaken your curiosity! Visit the Exhibit Centre and experience a world of mind bending FUN and crazy photo oportunities. Relax and ponder on the tantalising experiences in the exhibit centre whilst you enjoy the delights of The C³ Bar & Garden Café, try our wood fired ‘puzzling pizzas in a tropical garden setting, and browse through the many intriguing curios in the Puzzles and Things Shop.
The Curious Corner of Chamarel was dreamt up by David Hartshorn – a British born citizen married to a Mauritian, Paul Rose – another Brit married to a Mauritian and based in Mauritius for 25 years and Ed Gray a UK resident and all round genius, while they were sitting in Chamarel drinking the local rum (there is definitely ‘something in the water’ in Chamarel).
The CCC Team who run the show from day to day are all Mauritians mainly from Chamarel and neighbouring Case Noyale with Makenzie Faron, who worked on the construction of the building, heading up the Operations and Stephane Ducray looking after systems and computers – while David and Paul play golf and Ed is off creating the next cool exhibit.
